Were you lucky enough to make it through Thanksgiving break without gaining any weight? As always, I gained weight, but am thrilled that I was able to keep it down to only a 3 pound weight gain. Believe me, some years it has been much more and then kept going right through New Year’s. I didn’t exercise for 2 weeks around Thanksgiving and also ate WHATEVER I wanted to while I celebrated the holiday. I started going back to the gym this week and it was really tough! This is the time of the year when everyone is busy and it is WAY too easy to drop your calorie counting guard! I am determined to keep going to the gym at least 3 times a week and to continue to monitor my calorie intake throughout the month of December That way I can enjoy myself a little the week of Christmas without needing to buy new clothes afterwards…LOL You may laugh, but I have a pair of “fat pants” ready for this. I have 2 pairs of pants that are too big that I hold onto for this very reason. I LOVE holiday desserts and eat them until I almost make myself sick, then I am really sick once I see that my pants are so tight I can’t wear them anymore. I believe that I gained 15 pounds last year throughout my holiday dessert eating binge last year and found myself depressed and in tears when it came time to go out and eat with friends and none of my nice clothes fit.
Make sure you watch your weight throughout the month so you won’t be stuck in jogging pants like I was last year. It is really hard to make yourself eat right when there are SO many goodies around this time of the year, but when January comes around, you’ll be glad you did! Hang in there, take an afternoon walk with the kids or your dog and find a few new low calorie treats to curb your cravings!
