New Year’s Eve festivities are right around the corner.  Will you be staying home, hosting a get together or needing to take a special dish or great dessert to someone’s home?  Here’s a great recipe for Crazy Cake that just came in from Linda from Kentucky.  She says that this a very quick and delicious cake which makes a great dessert in just minutes.

Crazy Cake Recipe

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp.  vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup water
crazy cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Sift all dry ingredients into a 8 or 9 inch baking pan.
Make 3 wells in flour mixture and put vinegar in one, oil in one, and vanilla in one.
Pour water over the mixture and stir with fork until well mixed.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
You may also add your favorite frosting to this great dessert, dust the cake with powdered sugar or just eat it plain.  This cake is good either way – enjoy!
What type of New Year’s Eve traditions does your family have?  Do children participate in your New Year’s Eve traditions as well?  Since we do not live close to our family, we keep our New Year’s Eve party small, with just the four of us.  We make everyone’s favorite appetizers such as mozzarella cheese sticks, chips & salsa, hot wings, etc. and have a small party.  We also make our favorite Sherbet punch, watch movies and watch the ball drop on television.  We would love to have fireworks at the house, but lately it has been so dry and there is a firework ban in our area.
What are your New Year’s Eve plans for this year?
