Doesn’t this sound great?  Recipe Linda sent this Apple-Cream Cheese Bundt Cake recipe in to the mom blog for us to share.  She says this recipe is time consuming but very good! Since I didn’t personally make this cake, I grabbed an image from chezcayenne.com to feature in this recipe post.

Cream Cheese Filling
1 8 0z package of cream cheese
1/4 cup butter softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 large egg
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract

Prepare filling by beating the first 3 ingredients together at medium speed with mixer until smooth.  Add egg, flour and vanilla and beat until just blended and set aside.

Time to prepare the apple cake batter and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Apple Cake Batter
 3 cups all purpose flour
*1 cup sugar
*1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
*2 tsp cinnamon
*1 tsp salt
*1 tsp baking soda
*1 tsp nutmeg
*1/2 tsp allspice
3 large eggs lightly beaton
3/4 cup oil
3/4 cup applesauce
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups pealed and finely chopped gala apples
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Stir together 3 cups flour and the next 7 ingredients (noted by *).  Stir in eggs and next 3 ingredients stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.

Next, stir in apples and pecans.  Spoon 2/3 of apple mixture into a greased and floured tube pan.  Spoon cream cheese filling over apple mixture leaving 1 inch border around edges.

Swirl filling throughout apple mixture with paring knife and add remaining mixture.  Bake 350 for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Prepare your frosting after your cake has been removed from the oven and is almost cool.

Praline Frosting
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 tea vanilla
1 cup powdered sugar

Bring 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup butter and 3 Tbsp milk to a boil in a 2 qt sauce pan whisking constantly and boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat stir in vanilla  Gradually whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.  Stir gently 3 to 5 minutes until mixture begins to cool and thickens slightly.  Pour immediately over cooled cake.

Recipe Linda says this cake is great but be prepared for about 45 minutes of prep work before you are able to place this in your oven.  This recipe also sounds like it could bring about a bit of mess in the kitchen.  Did you ever clean without chemicals?  They make great cleaning cloths nowadays that are great for multiple uses.  Definitely be prepared to do a little cleaning after the prep work is over for this Apple-Cream Cheese Bundt Cake recipe.

Enjoy!
