Our High School Basketball Season Is Over

This year's basketball season was great!  My son was on the Sophomore Woodlands's High School basketball team and they scored many victories throughout the season.  Above you can see where he just made his free throw and the team is after the ball.  It happened so quickly, that I was able to catch him still on his tip toes from jumping as he shot the ball.  These were my favorite photos throughout the season.  Each time he shot a free throw, I … [Read more...]

After School Activities For Kids

Do your children have after school activities?  If your children are old enough, do you stay with them and watch practice or do you run errands while they are with their coaches?  If it is my teen, I drop him off and pick him back up once practice is over.  Now that he is a sophomore and many of his teammates are now of driving age, it would be embarrassing for him if his mother sat in the stands and watched his practices.  For my third grade … [Read more...]

Sophomore Highlander’s Basketball Game

This past Friday night my son's team played a local rival team and it was a fast paced game from start to finish.  Above you'll see our team gearing up before the game started.  I never thought I'd be a basketball fan, but now I am a die hard.  My heart was racing so fast watching this game, especially when my son dove for a ball and was kicked in the head.  I came out of my chair screaming which of course was caught on my husband's video he was … [Read more...]

Lebron James’ Fall Catches 9 Yr. Old’s Attention

My son Bobby is a huge basketball fan and loves to wear signature basketball shoes such as James Hardens, Kobe Bryants and Lebron James.  Last night as we were getting ready for bed, he heard about Lebron James' fall into the crowd that caused the lady to be carried away on a stretcher.  He couldn't believe what he had heard so he had me look it up online so he could watch it again.  We found a video clip of this and Bobby watched it over and … [Read more...]

Basketball Themed Desk Was A Success!

I bought this old desk on a local resale website for $35.  As our realtor would say, it had "good bones."   My youngest has been asking for a study desk and doesn't have much extra room for a desk and this one fit perfectly.    It was real wood, but needed repainted and some knobs that were more suitable for a nine year old boy.  I figured that I couldn't go wrong with this $35 desk.  If he grew tired of it and didn't use it, then I could always … [Read more...]

Both of my boys look forward to attending Summer Basketball camps.  This week my oldest attended an overnight basketball camp at Rice University while my youngest attended a basketball camp through the local high school.  Travis left his four day camp with two high school awards:  MVP and top shooter.  Bobby was the top shooter for the third graders on the first day of camp and was thrilled. What Are You Doing With That?

My son was playing basketball yesterday afternoon and then I noticed that I no longer heard the bouncing of the wall on our driveway.  I stepped out the backdoor to find him doing this!  First of all he is standing on my favorite owl statue and then has the pool net - what is he doing?  I told him that his weight could break the owl and then he'd get cut so get down!  He continues to look over the fence, and tells me his plan to scoop up his … [Read more...]

I love living in the Houston Area because there are so many great things to do.  Our family went to see the Houston Rockets play basketball at the Toyota Center and we had a blast!  Here's a picture of the line in front of the Toyota Center as we waited patiently for the doors to open an hour before game time. Here's a photo that I captured right as soon as we showed our Houston Rockets game tickets at the entrance.  There were people … [Read more...]

Son’s First Freshman Assignment

My oldest son just started his freshman year of high school on Monday.  His first Language Arts assignment was to write a poem.  He finished up tonight and after reading it, I knew that I had to share it with you on BlogWithMom.com. Since he eats, sleeps and breathes basketball, he added a basketball background to his footprint. His poem reads as follows:   I am smart and friendly I wonder what the world will become I … [Read more...]

In order to be a good basketball player, Travis needs strength, speed, agility and needs to be able to jump high.  If … [Read more...]
