Pokemon On The Go Craze

I am sure that you have heard about the Pokemon On The Go game by now.  My teenager told my husband about it and before you knew it, they were both testing it out.  I'm not much on games so I just listened as they talked about this new game and the tricks they had learned. We have a cool outdoor shopping area in our town called Market Street.  It has great outdoor shopping and many restaurants.  My husband took me this week and everyone … [Read more...]

2016 Houston Rodeo Fun

Last week was Summer Break and we went to the Houston Rodeo for the day to check out the shopping, the rodeo and the Georgia Florida Line concert.  Check out the photo above, this is one of the stands that we saw on our way into the festivities.  Each year I think about this, but I have yet to try anything.  If you were to get something from this Fried A Fair stand, which would you get? How about this?  How many footballs would guess this … [Read more...]

It’s Spring Break This Week

Has Spring Break hit your house yet?  It's in full swing over here at our house.  We've played at several parks, swam in the pool, hit the video games, played basketball, washed cars, watched movies and just enjoyed the time away from school. Yes, the water was cold, but the boys were excited about the warm Texas weather.  So after they had enough of the cold water, they hopped in the hot tub to warm up a bit.  Thank goodness the previous … [Read more...]

Cooking With Kids: Holiday Tradition

Does your family have a favorite Christmas Tradition?  One of my favorite "family time" traditions includes holiday baking.  Each year we make cut out sugar cookies for Santa.  My boys are now 15 and 9 and still enjoy making these cookies with me.  It can be a very messy adventure but truly worth every drop of sugar or icing that smears across our clothing, the table or on the floor!  My mother passed away from cancer when I was 17, and one of … [Read more...]

The Balance of Family Daily Device Usage

There seems to be a recent trend in the world of parenting advice where experts are berating parents about how much screen time kids are getting.  Take this article, recently published by Time, for example.  Of course there's no question that plenty of children spend too much time in front of a screen that's acting as a babysitter.  However, I would like to make a point to present the opposite side of the argument: screen time isn't evil.  It … [Read more...]

Don’t Be Afraid To Take Your Baby To Disney

Have you ever wanted to take your baby to a place like Disneyland but are hesitant because you just don’t know what it is like to take a baby there?  It can be a little intimidating, but it is do-able!  My friend took her 4-month-old and they had a 3-day hopper so after the first day, they were able to see what works with a baby in Disney and what does not work. If you baby wear, definitely bring your baby carrier!  If you do not baby wear, … [Read more...]
