Slip In Exercise During Daily Routines

exercise errands

There are days that you can’t possibly manage to fit in a full work out with such a busy schedule.  You need to stay healthy and exercise, but you can skip a few days of the week at the gym.  There are plenty of ways to get your exercise during your hectic daily routine without having to rush to the gym as well.  Exercise is essential!

There are so many conveniences in today’s society that limit the need to get OUT and be active.  Medicines and groceries (and everything else under the sun) being delivered straight to your door limits the time that you are out and about.  So, I am here to show you some very simple ways to get exercise during your daily routine.

  • Have errands to accomplish during the day?  Do you usually drive where you need to go?  Plan your day out and if there are any places you need to go that are close together, you could power walk instead of drive.  Don’t forget to being your phone or MP3 player for music.
  • If you live in a big city and have to take the bus, get off the bus stop a couple stops early and walk the rest of the way.
  • Doing laundry or feeding your animals?  Lift the dog food bag or laundry detergent 20 or so times.
  • Have a conference call to make?  Instead of sitting while talking on the phone, walk around.
  • Instead of taking the easy way out and taking the drive-thru, get out and walk inside.
  • Standing in line for a long time at the bank or light office?  Instead of just standing there getting impatient, you could always flex your abs.  This will work your stomach muscles and build your core.  Nobody would notice and it will help time pass quickly.
  • Have somewhere to go that has stairs?  Always opt for the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.  It might take a little longer to get there, but it’s totally worth it.
  • Have a yard that needs mowed?  Instead of using a riding lawnmower, mow as much as you can with a push mower.   It will take you a little longer, but it helps tone your muscles.
